Red Aces + The Messengers + The Alcorettes
Tuesday 1 December
Emerging from the beer-soaked card games on New Years Eve, the late-night singalongs with the old folks, and a genetic predisposition to an insatiable musical appetite, Red Aces is the sonic union of four young brothers, each with their own musical experience and perspective.
Wandering through the dark corridors of indie rock, taking a left turn into the desolate pastures of mournful alt-country, and emerging into the blinding light, searing guitars, brooding vocals and thundering rhythms of epic psychedelia, Red Aces aim to deliver a show that is as eclectic as it is intense. With support from The Alcorettes and The Messengers, at The Tote Hotel, Tuesday December 1, 8pm, 5 entry.

The Young Have Secrets + Yolke + The Ovals
Wednesday 2 December
Art rock group The Young have Secrets will release their debut E.P this year. Presenting ample new material, The Young have Secrets close with their forceful compositions and extended instrumental facets. On Wednesday December 2 they will be gracing the stage of the Tote, along with Yolke: four young men that share a common interest in producing fresh sounds and capturing said sounds by any means necessary. They happy to bust out technocolour jam sprees - Yolke care little for pigeon-holed genres - their preference lies purely for originality and tasty flavours. They will be joined by The Ovals, who have just returned from outer space. Doors 8.00pm, $6 entry.

The Crackwhores
December Front Bar Residency
Sat 5, 12, 19 December
Work shy The Crack Whores face reality as the 2012 release date for their widely unanticipated long player 'Trump/Monkey' looms. Desperate for cash to finance the elaborate finishing touches (bass, handclaps) to the album, The Crack Whores play Saturdays in December at the Tote. Industry player and Discount Liquor Records Chairman Darryl Thompson-Turner explains via bluetooth: "Ignore what you've been hearing about phoenix companies. The band have accepted Tote bar staff explanations, as have the ACCC, and are now really focusing now on putting on the best show they possibly can. And might I say it is the professional attitude and work ethic of all parties that has made this possible. Symbiotic mutually beneficial legally binding contractual arrangements are in place and the set list is water tight. I hope Billy Joel fans can put aside their anger and just get down to the Tote and try to enjoy the show. The merchandise will be blank in line with DLR policy." The Crack Whores. Saturdays 5, 12, 19 December 09, 5 - 7pm, free.
